Two students arrested after drugs found on THS campus

TARBORO — Police found two ounces of marijuana inside of a student’s vehicle on Tarboro High School’s campus January 15, after receiving a tip that there were drugs inside of it.

Timothy Edward Walker II, of 211 Morrison Ave., Tarboro, and Bouytre Brooks Glass, of 95 Center Lane, Princeville, were each charged with five felonies and released into their parents custody.

Tarboro Police and Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant on Walker’s vehicle around 9 a.m. A K-9 was called in to do an exterior search of the vehicle, scratching on the passenger’s side door to indicate the presence of drugs. After that, officers entered the vehicle and found two ounces of marijuana under the passenger’s seat. Two bags of marijuana were found and one had 15 individually wrapped bags for selling of the drug and the other bag contained a bulk quantity.

Walker and Glass were charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of school property, felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a place to store controlled substances and conspiring to sell and deliver marijuana.

According to Edgecombe County Public School’s student conduct policy, no student shall possess, use, transmit, sell, conspire or attempt to transmit or sell drugs on school property. If a student is caught in possession of drugs on school grounds, they are subjected to a Level Three violation which generally results in a long-term suspension, although a principal may impose a short-term suspension based on the circumstances of the offense.

ECPS Superintendent John Farrelly said he will handle Walker and Glass in a confidential disciplinary matter.
