VIF resources to help all ECPS teachers

TARBORO — With a perfunctory board of education vote, the only hurdle left for dual language/global school Martin Millennium Academy (MMA) to become a reality, excitement is growing among Edgecombe County Public Schools (ECPS) officials over what it can mean for the entire system.

While statewide test results continue to show dual language students outpacing their peers, officials are anxious for a system-wide aspect of the program to begin.

In its partnership with VIF International Education, ECPS will not only get curriculum and teacher training assistance for MMA, but the same resources for all teachers in the local system.

Making the most of the partnership, ECPS has opted to provide access to teacher training, professional development, curriculum resources and unit teaching plans for the entire system.

At an annual cost of $4,000 per school, ECPS will spend $52,000 to have all county schools included, and the benefits for teachers and students have officials "very excited."
