27 suspected drug dealers arrested

TARBORO — In a joint effort, law enforcement gave suspected drug dealers in Edgecombe County an early Christmas present. The Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office and Tarboro Police Narcotics Detectives used three days last week to sweep up 27 suspected drug dealers in a continuing effort that started back in the spring. Edgecombe County Probation and Parole officers assisted in the roundup.

At least 12 of the suspects arrested are repeat offenders and seven are currently on supervised probation.

"This type of good cooperation between the two agencies and the citizens complaints helped us yield good results," Sheriff James Knight said. "Numerous suspected drug dealers have cases pending against them and arrests will continue into 2014."

Tarboro Chief Damon Williams echoed Knight's comments, adding the recent narcotics arrests are part of the ongoing effort between the two departments involving illegal sales and possession of narcotics.

The detectives executed a search warrant on a residence in Rocky Mount at 513 S. Vyne St. where they found 46 grams of raw heroin, two grams of cocaine, two percocets, digital scales, heroin bags, rubber stamps to stamp the heroin bags and  a large sum of US currency.

Arrested during the search warrant was the homeowner, 38-year old Antonio Jermaine Knight. He was charged with two counts of trafficking heroin, possession with the intent to sell and deliver heroin, felony possession of heroin, manufacture heroin, possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine and continuing criminal enterprise. He was placed in the Edgecombe County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond.

Also arrested in the roundup were:

• Chelsea Pelletier, 25, of 2243 Peele Road, Rocky Mount, charged with three counts of sell schedule IV, three counts of possession with the intent to sell and deliver schedule IV, three counts of simple possession of schedule IV and three counts of dispensing medication without a license. Jailed under a $255,000 secured bond.

• Stephen Lee Peace, Jr., 40, of 4792 Howard Ave. Ext., Tarboro, charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver schedule II, deliver schedule II, sell schedule II, conspire to sell and deliver schedule II. Jailed under a $165,000 secured bond.

• Amy Michelle Anderson, 28, of 1307 Sunset Ave., Tarboro, charged with two counts of possession with the intent to sell and deliver schedule II, two counts of sell schedule II, two counts of deliver schedule II and conspire to sell and deliver schedule II. Jailed under a $25,000 secured bond.

• Kendrick Lemon Draughn, 24, of 905 Fishing Hole Trail, Apt. 102, Fayetteville, charged with two counts of possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine, two counts of sell cocaine, deliver cocaine, manufacture cocaine, possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana, sell marijuana, deliver marijuana, conspire to sell and deliver cocaine, conspire to sell and deliver marijuana, sell controlled substances within 1,000 feet of school, two counts of possess cocaine. Jailed under a $5,000 secured bond.

• Dante Lamar Brown, 32, Scotland Neck, charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver heroin, sell heroin, deliver heroin, sell controlled substances within 1,000 feet of child care center. Jailed under a $5,000 secured bond.

• Kendrick Tyrone Pitt, 28, of 200 W. Hope Lodge St., Apt. 24, Tarboro, charged with two counts of sell marijuana, two counts of possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana and two counts of maintain vehicle to store controlled substances. Jailed under a $25,000 secured bond.

• Brandon Scott Mabry, 25, in Department of Corrections, charged with three counts of sell cocaine, three counts of possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine, two counts of possess cocaine, sell controlled substances within 1,000 feet of school, two counts of sell marijuana, two counts of possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possess up to one half ounce of marijuana and maintain a vehicle to store controlled substances. Jailed under a $10,000 secured bond.

• Darryl Terraine Boyd, 43, of 1124 Edmondson Ave., Tarboro, charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine, sell cocaine, deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, sell controlled substances within 1,000 feet of school, conspire to sell cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. jailed under a $5,000 secured bond.

• Jessie Lee Cherry, 19, of 7895 Hwy. 64 W., Tarboro, charged with aid and abet possession of firearm by felon. Jailed under a $15,000 secured bond.

• Jermain Smith, 21, of 131 Brittany Court, Tarboro, charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, sell schedule II, possession with the intent to sell and deliver schedule II, maintain a vehicle to store controlled substances, sell marijuana and possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana. Jailed under a $25,000 secured bond.

• Quantaye Lenoval Moye, 32, of 515 E. 10th St., Scotland Neck, charged with conspire to sell and deliver heroin. Jailed under a $10,000 secured bond.

• Michael Maurice Wooten, 32, of 1159 Branch Farm Road, Macclesfield, charged with sell marijuana, possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintain a dwelling place to store controlled substances.

• Patrick Devon Martin, 24, of Lot 91 Mobile Home Estates, Tarboro, charged with sell cocaine, possess cocaine and possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine. Jailed under a $165,000 secured bond.

• Donyell Lemont Powell, 39, of 210 Railroad St., Contoe, charged with two counts of sell cocaine, two counts of possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine, two counts of possess cocaine and maintain a vehicle to store controlled substances. jailed under a $250,000 secured bond.

• Justin Lee Cherry, 21, of 7895 Hwy. 64 Alt. W., Tarboro, charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. Jailed under a $165,000 secured bond.

• Derek Battle, 37, of Apt. 32 Pioneer Court, Princeville, charged with three counts of sell cocaine, three counts of possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine, three counts of possess cocaine, three counts of maintain a vehicle to store controlled substances and sell controlled substances within 1,000 feet of school. Jailed under a $150,000 secured bond.

• Eddie Lee Pollard, 25, of 344 Eastern Ave., Rocky Mount, charged with sell cocaine, possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine, conspire to sell cocaine and maintain a vehicle to store controlled substances. Jailed under a $50,000 secured bond.

• Dontrell Devon Bryant, 24, of Lot 9 Dixon Lane, Whitakers, charged with sell cocaine, possess cocaine, possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine and conspire to sell cocaine. jailed under a $30,000 secured bond.

• Columbus Whitehead, 60, of 8113 Hwy. 42 E., Tarboro, charged with sell cocaine, possess cocaine and possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine. Jailed under a $85, 000 secured bond.

• Taranius Mondale Whitehead, 35, of 2266 Sherwood Ave. Apt. B, Tarboro, charged with conspire to sell and deliver cocaine. Jailed under a $165,000 secured bond.

• Stephen Levon Goode, 33, of 200 Wiley St., Tarboro, charged with sell cocaine, possess cocaine and possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine. Jailed under a $165,000 secured bond.

• Gary Lee Marlow, 37, of 265 Ellis Lane, Tarboro, charged with sell heroin, possess heroin and possession with the intent to sell and deliver heroin. Jailed under a $5,000 secured bond.

• Christopher Trey Ramsey, 18, of 265 Ellis Lane, Tarboro, charged with sell heroin, possess heroin and possession with the intent to sell and deliver heroin. Jailed under a $5,000 secured bond.

• Elvin Spraggion, 63, of 10792 Hwy. 33 NW, Whitakers, charged with sell cocaine, possess cocaine and possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine. Jailed under a $165,000 secured bond.

• Steven Earl Murphy, 40, of 512 E. Pitt St., Tarboro, charged with three counts sell cocaine, three counts of possess cocaine and three counts of possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine. Jailed under a $165,000 secured bond.

• Rarshed Cooper, 19, of 301 S. Main St., Princeville, charged with sell marijuana, possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana, sell controlled substances within 1,000 feet of school and possess marijuana up to one half ounce. Jailed under a $165,000 secured bond.
