THE DAILY SOUTHERNER
Tarboro police detectives are looking for a black male responsible for robbing Tarboro Savings Bank on Main Street Friday around 9:56 a.m., according to a press release issued by the department to The Daily Southerner after the close of business Friday.
The press release said the suspect entered the bank and handed the teller a note and demanded money.
The press release declined to say if the suspect brandished any type of a weapon or got any money. It also failed to state whether any of the employees of the bank was injured during the robbery.
The suspect is described as standing 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds with a light to medium complexion.
The robber was wearing a red Chicago Bulls baseball hat with a black brim, black leather coat, blue jeans and tan boots.
Detectives have no information on the direction of travel or mode of transportation, according to the press release.
A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. All information will be kept strictly confidential.
If you have any information about the robbery contact the police department at 641-4247.
The press release was sent to The Daily Southerner around 5:40 p.m. Friday after WITN and WRAL had already received press releases from Chief Damon Williams earlier in the day, including an interview with WITN shortly after the robbery.
