Pate/Whitaker Wedding

Virginia Nicole Pate and Kevin Miel Whitaker were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Northern Boulevard Baptist Church in Tarboro. The Reverend Calvin Lee officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of James and Pamela Pate of Tarboro. The groom is the son of Kenneth and Pharise Whitaker of Enfield.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

The bride wore a formal cafe` matte ivory satin gown with spaghetti straps. It featured an English net overlay over an ivory gown and the bodice was decorated with heavy embellishments of silver crystals and sequins. A band of cafe` satin accented the natural waistline. An A-line skirt with matching beadwork flowed into a semi-cathedral length train. She wore a single tier fingertip veil edged with silver and adorned with crystal and sequins.

Matron of Honor was Christina Pate Whitehurst, sister of the bride, of Wilson. Her bridesmaid was Rachel Hammes, former college roommate and friend of the bride, of Nebraska. Program attendant was Davonna Whitaker, sister of the groom, of Enfield.

The groom's father served as Best Man. His groomsman was Brian Whitaker, brother of the groom, of Enfield. Ushers were Dennis Baker, uncle of the bride, of Columbia, SC, Gil Whitehurst, brother-in-law of the bride, of Wilson and Doug Harris friend of the couple, of Tarboro.

Pianist was Anthony Hill of Nashville. The wedding was directed by Brandy Scott of Tarboro.

The bride is a graduate of East Carolina University. She is currently employed with Alpha Scientific in Atlanta, Georgia.

The groom is a graduate of UNC-Pembroke. He is currently employed with Graphics of Marietta, Georgia.

A reception, hosted by the parents of the bride, was held immediately following the ceremony at Stack's Restaurant of Tarboro. After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, SC, the couple will reside in Marietta, GA.
