Beach music, BBQ and more at ECC Saturday
With The Embers, The Holiday Band and the Chairmen of the Board providing the music, a full slate of activities is on-tap at the fourth annual Beach Music and BBQ Festival on April 21 at Edgecombe Community College’s Tarboro campus.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate for the festivities, sponsored by the Edgecombe Community College Foundation.
Spring Garden Symposium less than a month away

St. Anne’s hosting two events this weekend
There are activities both Saturday and Sunday at St. Anne’s Chapel, with The Tar River Boys and Chambergrass playing Saturday and an open jam Drum Circle on Sunday.
Some of the best Bluegrass in the region will get under way at 7 p.m. Saturday and if you pick, bring your instrument and join the combined bands on stage for a big Bluegrass jam finale.
Country music show kicks off busy local weekend
An evening of country music tonight at Edgecombe Community College kicks off what looks to be a busy weekend in and around Edgecombe County. Tonight’s show is the fifth of six concerts in the 2011-12 Edgecombe Performance Series.
Variety key word in 16th Carver Talent Show in Pinetop
PINETOPS — G. W. Carver Elementary School in Pinetops produced its 16th talent show Tuesday night when 18 acts participated in the production of “We Believe in Music.”
The program was held in observance of "Music in Our Schools" month and serves as a fundraiser for the school’s music department. School music teacher Becky Johnson coordinated the program.
This year, the students danced, sang, lip synched, played musical instruments, and even jumped rope to the music.
Rhythmicity St. Anne’s Chapel on Sunday
Rhythmicity is a performance drum and percussion ensemble that draws from the vibrant and dynamic rhythms of West Africa to connect and engage diverse audiences and at 5 p.m. Sunday, Rhythmicity will perform at St. Anne’s Chapel and Event Center. St. Anne’s Chapel is located at the corner of Howard Ave. and McNair Road.
Jason Michael Carroll to perform at ECC
Edgecombe Community College is pleased present an evening of country music with two successful North Carolina singer-songwriters on Friday, March 30. The event features country hit maker Jason Michael Carroll as the headliner, with special guest Ryder Lee to open the show. The concert takes place at 8:00 PM in beautiful Keihin Auditorium on the Tarboro campus, and is the fifth of six concerts in the 2011-12 season of the Edgecombe Performance Series.

The artist has to consider the subject matter, composition, and now, with so much new technology, photography is similar to painting.
PBS star headlines ECC historic preservation event
Roy Underhill, host of the popular PBS show The Woodwright’s Shop, is coming to Tarboro.
He will headline the 4th annual Historic Preservation Trades School at Edgecombe Community College on Saturday, March 31, as a guest speaker.
In addition to Underhill’s presentation, preservation demonstrations in blacksmithing, slate and metal roofing, masonry, timberframing, carpentry, painting, window repair, and other topics will be under way throughout the day.
ECC dance program gets under way
Edgecombe Community College’s dance program, designed to help build its expanding performing arts program, gets under way Saturday.
Two years ago, the college added a weekend community theatre program to its continuing education curricula. Last year, it added an associate’s degree in theatre arts for college transfer students.
