Kickin Grass coming to Saint Anne’s Saturday

PRINCEVILLE — The Kickin Grass Band, a Raleigh-based bluegrass group, will play at Saint Anne’s Chapel on Saturday, June 9.

Ten years in the making, the Kickin Grass Band has made its mark on the roots music scene with strong voices and original songs that reflect the depth and breadth of the human experience. Consisting of mandolinist Jamie Dawson; fiddler Pattie Hopkins; bassist Patrick Walsh; banjo player Hank Smith; and guitarist, songwriter and signature lead vocalist, Lynda Dawson — a musician whom Nashville Public Radio’s Bluegrass Breakdown host Dave Higgs praises as “a truly gifted songwriter” — the Kickin Grass Band draws on traditional and contemporary bluegrass to create a sound that is equally vintage and progressive.

The Kickin Grass Band maintains a steady touring schedule across North America. The band was on the 25th Annual MerleFest lineup in April and has made recent appearances in Canada, Arizona, New York, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida and across North Carolina.

Patrons are reminded to bring their own beverage, snacks to share and a pillow for your chair. The doors open at 7:30.

Tickets for Kickin Grass are $10 in advance by check or PayPal and $15 at the door. Make checks payable to The Kickin Grass Band and mail them to Saint Anne's Chapel, P. O. Box 399, Tarboro, 27886. If you have a PayPal account, you can send funds through the PayPal site to
