TARBORO — Edgecombe Community College is pleased present an evening of country music with two successful North Carolina singer-songwriters on Friday, March 30. The event features country hit maker Jason Michael Carroll as the headliner, with special guest Ryder Lee to open the show. The concert takes place at 8:00 PM in beautiful Keihin Auditorium on the Tarboro campus, and is the fifth of six concerts in the 2011-12 season of the Edgecombe Performance Series.

Jason Michael Carroll grew up in a religious household in Youngsville, North Carolina.  His father was a conservative Christian minister who viewed modern music as sinful and would not allow any secular music played in the home, or even on family trips in the car. In 2004 encouraged by his mother, Carroll won a local singing competition, WRAZ FOX 50's Gimme the Mic. Carroll was signed to the Arista Nashville label in 2006, releasing his debut album Waitin' in the Country, which produced three consecutive Top 40 country hits for him: "Alyssa Lies", "Livin' Our Love Song" and "I Can Sleep When I'm Dead". His sixth single "Numbers" was officially released to radio on March 28, 2011. It is the first single from his third album, also titled Numbers, which is sold exclusively through Cracker Barrel stores.

Tarboro native Ryder Lee made quite a name for himself in Nashville as lead singer for the successful country band The Lost Trailers. The title track from their album Holler Back, reached #9 on the country charts in late 2008, and the band was nominated for Top Vocal Group at the 2009 Academy of Country Music Awards. ECC is pleased to have Lee return to his hometown to perform a solo acoustic set.
