Cougars lose 11-1 in five innings
BETHEL – SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars first-year coach Andrew Harrell took part of the responsibility for his team's sub par performance in wet, rainy conditions Friday. His Cougars were routed 11-1 by the North Pitt Panthers in five innings due to the mercy-run rule.
Pack pound Cougars, 15-0
PINETOPS – SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars coach Shelton Langley sat and watched in frustration Thursday night as his team committed nine errors in five innings against the Washington Pam Pack.
Washington, who is ranked No. 8 in the 2-A state poll, took every advantage of the mistakes that the Cougars gave them en rout to a 15-0 win.

PINETOPS – SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars right-hander Brayden Morris threw a complete game to open up Eastern Plains Conference action Wednesday night and the Cougars defeated the Washington Pam Pack 3-1.

Seventh a disaster for Vikings
Leading 6-4 in the top of the seventh inning, the Tarboro Vikings saw their lead slowly slip away hit by hit as the Nash Central Bulldogs bats came alive. The Bulldogs strung together seven hits in the inning, six straight, off of three Tarboro pitchers and scored seven runs to take an 11-6 lead. The Vikings rally fell short in the bottom half of the inning as they lost 11-8.

PINETOPS – The Tarboro Vikings outshot the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars 53-7 Thursday in a non-conference match. The Vikings used their skill level on both ends of the field to outman the Cougars and defeat them 7-0.
Vikings beat Cougars 18-15
PINETOPS – Coaches for the Tarboro Vikings and SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars watched the two teams produce 33 runs, commit 15 errors and use seven pitchers Friday. That came on the heels of a dynamic 10 inning pitching duel in a 2-1 SouthWest win just two days earlier.
Lady Cougars maul Tarboro
The SouthWest Edgecombe Lady Cougars won their second game in row Friday. One day after beating a 3-A Nash Central team 6-4, the Cougars pounded out 11 hits and defeated county rival the Tarboro Lady Vikings 14-2 in a five inning game that was cut short due to the mercy run rule.
Hinton to play semi-pro football overseas
Former SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars football player, Jamel Hinton, is working to further his football career. After playing a couple of seasons of minor league football in the area with the Tri-County Ruff Ryders, Hinton has earned a shot on a bigger stage in Holland with the Spijkenisse Scouts.
