Redskins win recreation title

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — The Doug Henry Chevrolet Redskins won the regular season Tarboro Parks and Recreation Department football league title with a 34-0 victory over the Doug Henry Ford Seahawks. The win helped the Redskins capture a 6-0 undefeated season.

The Redskins scored on two of their first three plays from scrimmage with back-to-back 65-yard runs by Khalil Staton and Ke'Nazuis Black to take a 14-0 lead.

Black finished the game with 200 rushing yards and scored three times.

Ni'Zavion Black added the final TD for the Redskins on a 4-yard run.

The Hemby-Willoughby Cowboys defeated the Piggly Wiggly Vikings 33-13 in their season finale. The Cowboys finished the season in second place with a 4-2 record.

Tyrek Lloyd scored four TDs for the Vikings. All of his scoring runs were from 50-plus yards out.

Amaree Carr and Tanaji Pittman added two TDs for the Vikings, both coming in the second half.

The Town of Tarboro would like to thank each of the sponsors for their support during the season. The town also wanted to thanks each of the volunteers who took time out to coach each of the teams and the cheerleaders.

The parks and recreation department has selected an all-star team for three age groups, 8-under, 10-under and 12-under to play at SouthWest Edgecombe High School Saturday in the "Little Function at the Junction 2."

The 8-under game will start at 10 a.m., 10-under at 1 p.m. and 12-under at 4 p.m.
