Tarboro JV finishes season undefeated

TARBORO — Tarboro's JV football team finished the season undefeated with a 9-0 record after defeating county rival North Edgecombe Warriors' JV team 41-0 Thursday. Tarboro played just two games in Two Rivers Conference and didn't allow a point in either contest.

The JV Vikings allowed just 22 total points through their nine games this season and those points all came in a close win against Southern Nash early in the season.

Tarboro shut out eight of their nine opponents and were able to outscore them 354-22.

Tarboro averaged rushing for over 300 yards per contest and scored 51 touchdowns during the season. Tarboro ended the season gaining over 2,900 yards as a team and had 11 different players to score at least one TD.

Shemar Pippen led the way with 777 rushing yards and scored nine TDs, while Quantavious Battle rushed for 752 yards and scored 11 times.

"I'm so very proud of these young men," Vikings Coach Ricky Babb said in an email. "They set goals back in February of what they wanted to accomplish. These young men have accomplished every single one of them."

Thursday against North Edgecombe, Battle rushed for 108 yards on just seven carries and scored on a 26-yard run to give Tarboro a 20-0 lead. Pippen and Daniel Lewis each scored on a rushing TD as well.

TJ Powell blocked a Warriors' punt and Deshaquon Fate scooped it up and scored from 29 yards out. Powell was also able to score a TD of his own on a fumble recovery that he returned 48 yards to give Tarboro the 41-0 lead.

Babb will have 14 JV players move up to the varsity team during their run in the playoffs.
