Doug Henry Chevrolet Redskins took over first place in the Tarboro Parks and Recreation standings Tuesday night when they shutout the Piggly WIggly Vikings 41-0.
The Redskins dominated in the first half, behind a good rushing performance from Ke'Nazuis Black. He scored his first touchdown of the game on an 85-yard run when he went down the right sideline to give the Redskins the 7-0 lead. Then in the second quarter, Khalil Staton scored from 60-yards out and Black added his second TD of the half on a 50-yard run later on to give the Redskins a 20-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Jordan Williams scored on an 8-yard run and Staton scored again on a 30-yard TD run. Jaquavious Davis capped off the Redskins scoring with a 12-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
In the second game, the Hemby-Willoughby Cowboys knocked off the Doug Henry Ford Seahawks and moved them from the ranks of the unbeaten. The Cowboys cruised to a 52-14 victory behind a five TD performance from Tyrek Lloyd.
Lloyd got things going for the Cowboys when he scored on a 37-yard TD run in the first quarter. The Seahawks answered right back though when O'Shaie Shelley scored on a 55-yard kick return on the ensuing kickoff to tie the game at 7-7.
Lloyd went right back to work in the second quarter when he scored three TDs from 2,9 and 18-yards out to give the Cowboys a lopsided edge. He added another TD run on a 52-yard blast in the fourth quarter.
The win knotted the Cowboys and Seahawks in a tie for second place with a 1-1 record in the league standings.
