Tarboro Parks and Recreation midget football got under way on Tuesday night.
Doug Henry Ford Seahawks and the Doug Henry Chevrolet Redskins both earned their first victories of the young season.
The Seahawks defeated the Piggly Wiggly Vikings 7-6. I'jheaur Shapre scored an early, first quarter rushing touchdown for the Seahawks and they added the extra point to take a 7-0 lead. The Vikiungs added their lone score in the third quarter when Keshaun Whitehead broke away for a 60-yard TD run. The extra point conversion was unsuccessful and the Seahawks kept the lead at 7-6.
With less than two minutes left in the game, on a fourth-and-three, the Seahawks made a good defensive stand to stop the Vikings in what turned out to be a defensive battle.
In the second game, the Redskins defeated the Hemby-Willoughby Cowboys 27-6. Tyrek Lloyd got the Cowboys on the scoreboard first on a rushing TD, but the extra point conversion failed.
Ke'Nazuis Black responded back for the Redskins with a rushing TD of his own and they added the extra point try to take a 7-6 lead.
In the second half, the Redskins scored 20 unanswered points and the Cowboys were never able to recover.
Jordan Williams, Ni'Zavion Black and Jay'Son Lewis each added a rushing TD for the Redskins.
