The Lawrence Academy Warriors got a positive outing from senior right hander Darren Armstrong Wednesday. He threw a complete game two hit shut out against the Jefferson Forest Cavaliers. The Warriors defeated the Cavaliers 2-0 and advance to the winners bracket game today at 4 p.m.
Armstrong was on cue the entire game. His off speed pitches weren't working early on so he relied on his fastball to get the job done. He came back to his off speed pitches late in the game and was effective. He struck out eight batters.
Christian Bourne took the loss for the Cavaliers.
The Warriors responded in the bottom of the first inning and scored both of their runs that inning. The collected only four hits in the game, but took advantage of two Cavalier errors.
Cody Ambrose had a base hit with an RBI and Ryan Lilley added a hit for the Warriors.
Taylor Bell had both hits for the Cavaliers.
Bunn 8 Timber Creek 7
The Bunn Wildcats used a three run sixth inning as a stepping stone to defeat the Timber Creek Chargers 8-7 in the second game of the day.
Christian Sledge earned the win for the Wildcats. He also added a base hit and had two RBI in the game.
Nick Cole had two hits and two RBI and Braxton Lamm added two hits.
Timber Creek scored three runs in the second inning when Kyle Taylor hit a three-run bomb to right field. He finished the day with two hits.
Eli Birriel and Billy Burton both added two hits apiece for the Chargers.
Both teams collected 10 hits in the game and committed two errors apiece.
Bunn plays Lawrence Academy at 4 p.m. today and Timber Creek plays Jefferson Forest at 11 a.m.
