North Edgecombe Warriors senior Rodney Conyers had a career night Friday against the Tarboro Vikings. He finished with a double-double and scored a career-high 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as he led the Warriors to a 71-61 win.
"Rodney played an outstanding game for us on both ends of the court," Warriors coach Mike Jones said. "That is how I've wanted him to play all season. He sees now that he can get it done on both ends. When he lets the game come to him like he did Friday, he can be an explosive player."
The win was the first for the Warriors (2-12, 1-3) in their last 13 games and their first in the Two Rivers Conference.
North Edgecombe's relentless defense forced 22 Tarboro (3-11, 1-2) turnovers and the Warriors were able to score 15 points off of those forced miscues.
"We came in here hungry and ready to play," Jones said with a big grin. "This win had been a long time coming for us because the 12-game losing streak was starting to affect these guys."
