Tarboro All-Stars rolling in district tournament

TARBORO — The Tarboro 12-under All-Star team has impressed their fans and opponents through two games in the Little Tar Heel All-Star district tournament in Jamesville. They have outscored their opponents 24-1 and have hit seven home runs to coincide with their stellar pitching and defensive performances.

Head coach Bill Howerin has also been impressed with the way his team has come out and performed the first two games.

They are sitting in the driver's set and control their own destiny heading into the third round of the tournament Tuesday when they play Washington White at 8:30 p.m. in Jamesville.



Tarboro 11, Jamesville 0

In the first game of the tournament, Tarboro defeated host team Jamesville 11-0.

Tarboro collected six hits in the game and two of them were home runs from Jesus Garcia and Mike Wiggins, which were back to back shots in the third inning.

Tarboro blew the game open in the second inning when they sent 13 batters to the plate and scored eight runs. Their opponent Jamesville didn't record an out until the 11th batter came to the plate.

Garcia and Justin Rameriz threw one inning apiece and Dillon Johnson pitched two innings.

Tarboro 13, Bath 1

In the second game of the tournament, Tarboro picked up right where they left off from the first game and pounded out a 16 hit performance. They defeated Bath 13-1 behind five home runs from four different players.

Rameriz led the way offensively going 3 for 4 with two home runs and four RBIs. Johnson added three hits from the lead off spot and scored twice, while Medford, Garcia and Kevin Braswell each added a home run apiece.

Tarboro's big inning came in the fifth when they scored six runs and had three homers in the inning.

Garcia and mason Riley threw two innings apiece and Rameriz closed it out with an inning.
