Want to live like a king? Become a former president

Bill Clinton has collected nearly $8 million from the taxpayers, in pension and miscellaneous benefits, since leaving office in 2001, according to politico.com.

That includes $420,000 in phone bills.

It's been a long time since a dying Ulysses S. Grant worked feverishly into the night, penning an autobiography so his widow would have a means of support.

The Clintons, for example, have made $100 million since leaving the White House, politico.com says.

Meanwhile, the federal government is $9.3 trillion in debt, the on-line National Debt Clock reports.

Future candidates for president should be told that taxpayers won't be making them rich.
