TARBORO — Murphy Sue Rooker O’Neal, 92, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wedneday at Carlisle Funeral Home with Dr. Marty Cauley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pineview Cemetery, Pinetops.

Murphy Sue was born in Edgecombe County to the late Herbert and Katie Pender Rooker. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Randolph O’ Neal.

She is survived by her daughters; Jennifer O’Neal Hawkins and husband David of Raleigh, Kaye  O’Neal Bulluck and husband Thomas of Rocky Mount; grandchildren; Jason Bulluck, Travis Bulluck, David Hawkins and Michelle Gelston; great grandchildren,  Alder Jack Bulluck and Avery Heath Bulluck, Jonah Thaomas Bulluck, Kate Hawkins, Hugh and Chasey Gelston.

Sue lived a long health life enjoying every day to its fullest. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rocky Mount. She  enjoyed her clubs: The Joy Club, West Edgecombe Ruritanettes, Young at Heart, and the Saturday night dances at the Y. She retired from American Optical Corp. and Montgomery Ward.  In May, she was recognized by the Edgecombe Council of Aging as an outstanding senior citizens.

After her retirement, at age 75, she decided staying home wasn’t for her so she worked part time at Englewood Supermarket. Her number one passion was cooking and doing for others.  We will all miss the great cakes and goodies she baked.

Thanks to all who visited her, sent her cards, and kept her in your prayers.

As we grieve her passing we are comforted to know that she  is now with the Lord.

A special thanks to Ruth Cherry, a dear friend to our family and our mother, to the South Wing Staff of Golden Living of Tarboro who touched our lives over the past 2 1/2 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1217 Bethehem Rd., Rocky Mount, NC  27804

The family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home Wednesday from 1 to 2 PM
