TARBORO — Mrs. Joy Sears Dozier, departed this world on April 23, 2013 at the Vidant Edgecombe Hospital after a long illness. She was born on August 7, 1930 in Enfield, NC.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Eugene F. Dozier, parents William Taft Sears and Lillian Hackney Sears, Grandparents James Gilbert Sears and Lucy Edwards Sears

Joy is survived by her son, Gerry E and wife, Holly Dozier of Goldsboro, N.C.; two daughters, Connie D. and husband Richard Williams of Raleigh and Ronda D. and husband Chris Pelone of Charlotte, N.C.;  six grandchildren, Bruce and wife Amanda Williams of Raleigh, Christi and husband David Skinner of Clayton, Scott and wife Arielle Dozier of Raleigh, Jeffrey and wife Cassie Dozier of Greenville, Lindsay Pelone of Raleigh and Nick Pelone of Asheville; four great grandchildren and several siblings.

The family wishes to extend a special “Thank You” to the staff of Golden Living Center of Tarboro for the care given to Joy during her time there.

The family will receive friends at Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 661 English Road 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013.

Graveside services will be held at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 2:30 p.m. Friday April 26, 2013.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 211 W. Saint James Street, Tarboro, N.C.  27886.
