TARBORO — MACCLESFIELD — Mildred Ellis Winstead, 85, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the First Christian Church of Macclesfield by the Rev. Melissa Acres.

Mrs. Winstead was a member of Good News Advent Christian Church. She was also a member of the Macclesfield Womans’ Club, CWF, and the Home Demonstration Club. She was a civic leader who was very instrumental in helping start the Macclesfield Park. She and her late husband, Ralph Winstead, owned and operated JT Winstead & Company in Macclesfield for many years.

She is survived by two daughters, Elsie Winstead, MD of St. Louis, Mo. and Mary Winstead of Greenville; a son, Ralph Woodard “Woody” Winstead, Jr. of the home; eight grandchildren: Emily Pohlman, Will Pohlman, Sarah Pohlman, Katie Pohlman, Megan Jablonski, Zachary Winstead, Jordan Winstead, and Holden Winstead; two sisters: Jessie Worthington and Nancy Daughtridge both of Fountain and a brother, Jim Ellis, of Fountain.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Good News Advent Christian Church.
