TARBORO — Ruby Wallace Pearson Lane Parker 94, passed away Saturday at The Fountains At The Albemarle.

Funeral service was Monday at Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Connie Button and Peggy Rogers Leggett officiating. Burial followed in Edgecombe Memorial Park.

Ruby received a Life time membership from the women of Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church.

On July 19, 2011 she received a Certificate of Recognition by the older adult committee of The Presbytery of New Hope for outstanding  service and dedication to The Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church and the community of Tarboro. She also served for many years as a member of Meals on Wheels.

She graduated from Campbell College Buies Creek and retired from Carolina Telephone Company after 27 years of service.

Ruby was born in Sampson County to Samuel Tilden and Mattie Robinson Wallace on May 27, 1919. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Carolyn P. Moore, step-son Dalton Lane;

brothers, Granville Lee Wallace, Frank Robinson Wallace and a sister Minnie M. Woodard.

She is survived by her loving family including her children, James Ray Pearson and wife Terrie of Tarboro; Ann P. Gibson and husband, Milton of Hamlet; Kay P. Gardner and husband Ron, Winterville; step-sons, Danny Lane and Wallace Lane; grandchildren, Debbie Helms, Allen Moore, Rene H. Warren, Bennett Harrell, Karen Brown, Jerry Bullock, Jennifer P. Johnson and Samuel Pearson; great grandchildren, Carol H. Smith, Eli Warren, Grayson Warren, Alex Ruby Warren, Bryson Brown and Landon Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
