LEE WILLIAMSON KNOX
TARBORO — Lee Williamson Knox, 63, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family on October 3, 2013 at her home in Tarboro.
A celebration of her life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, at Calvary Episcopal Church, 411 East Church Street in Tarboro. Family will receive guests from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. in the Parish parlor and at the Knox home following graveside service. Per Lee’s request, colorful attire is requested. The burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
She was the daughter of the late, Lynnwood and Daisy Williamson. Lee was born in Jacksonville, Fla. but traveled the world during her youth with her military family. Her family settled in Tarboro, where she finished high school and attended East Carolina University where she earned her teaching degree. She was a retired educator with over thirty years in the Edgecombe County School System. Because of her diligence and tenacious support of learning and children, after retirement she returned to the school system to work with struggling students.
She was a faithful member of the Calvary Episcopal Church, which she attended with her family in Tarboro.
Always inspired by her love of animals, Lee was known for keeping horses and was always surrounded by her faithful dogs. She also enjoyed spending time with her family at their vacation home in Bath.
Her family was her greatest priority and she especially loved being “Granny”. Lee is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Bobby Knox; children, Robby and wife Rebecca of Raleigh, Bryan Knox and wife Jessica of Tarboro; grandchildren, Trey and Carter Knox of Raleigh and Katelyn and Jackson Knox of Tarboro. Her brother, Lynnwood Williamson, III of Rocky Mount and sister Sandy Williamson Eason and husband Scott of Raleigh, and was “Aunt Lee” to numerous nieces and nephews.
Carlisle Funeral Home is assisting the family and condolences may be made to the family at www.carlislefuneralhome.com.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Edgecombe-Nash Humane Society, P.O. Box 1783, Rocky Mount, 27802.
The Knox’s family would like to offer their most sincere gratitude for the prayers, phone calls, visits, meals and flowers that we have received.
