Esther Kent Coker, 89, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday 2:30 at Carlisle Funeral Home with Elder D.B. Stokes and the Rev. Jessie Blalock officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Esther, known by the name “Mema," enjoyed life to its fullest.
She was always cooking or doing whatever was needed to be done for her family as well as others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Washburn Thomas Coker; a son, Maxie Thomas Coker; parents, J.C. and Lizzie Deal Kent; and three brothers, Levy Kent, J. Van Kent and Johnny Kent.
She is survived by a loving family including, three daughters; Rena Davis and husband Leon, Brenda Coker and Rose Webb and husband Al, all of Tarboro; two sons, Charles Coker and wife Shirley and Randy Coker and wife Cindy, all of Tarboro; a daughter-in-law, Betty Jo Coker , wife of the late Maxie Coker, of Tarboro; two brothers, Jesse Kent and wife Margaret of Burlington and William Kent and wife Dot of Rock Hill, S.C.; a sister, Addie Harris and husband Paul of Tarboro; three sisters-in-law, Virginia Coker, Hazel P. Coker and Betty Ruth Kent, wife of the late Johnny Kent, all of Tarboro; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Carlisle Funeral Home.
