PIERCIE ‘PETE’ STALLS POWELL

ROCKY MOUNT — WILSON — Piercie “Pete” Stalls Powell, 85, of the 200 block of Hofler Street, died Wednesday Feb. 6, 2013 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.  She was born in Martin County May 11, 1927 to the late McClenney and Fannie Pierce Stalls and was predeceased by her husband, Luther “Lou Whit” Powell; sisters, Frances Warren and Beatrice Mullin.  Pete, a homemaker, was a member of Cashie Baptist Church.  She attended UNC-G and graduated from Atlantic Christian College.  She was a former school teacher and avid golfer.  An outgoing fun loving person, she will be missed by her family and friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Edgewood Cemetery by Dr. Carroll Tarkington.  The family will receive friends Friday the 8th from 6-7:30 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home.

She is survived by her two daughters, June Barnhart of Tarboro and Whit Leffel of Cohasset, Mass.; sister, Sylvia Bates of Baltimore, Md.; grandchildren, Miss Watson Leffel and Jack Leffel.
