ROCKY MOUNT — TARBORO — Charles Corbett, 82, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the William and Mary Hart Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ronn McCracken officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Charles was born Oct. 4, 1930 in Pender County to the late Norwood Clyde and Eva Bell Larkins Corbett.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Marion, Thomas, G.B., Clifton, Linwood , Clayton Corbett and sisters, Louise , Blanche, Faye and Marilyn.

He was a member of William and Mary Hart Presbyterian Church  in Leggett.  Charles was manager of Anderson Farms for 41 years. He served in the US Marine Corps,  was a commissioner on the Leggett Town Board and also served as mayor.   Charles served two terms on the Board of Directors for the Leggett Fire Department.

Charles is survived by a loving family including his wife of 60 years, Mildred J. Corbett; a daughter: Millicent Corbett Britt and husband Jack of Raleigh; three sons:  Charles Lynn Corbett and wife Denise of Tarboro, Perry Corbett and wife Susan of Rocky Mount and Jeffrey Corbett of Apex; grandchildren:  Kenneth Corbett, Pamela Corbett Bailey and husband Gray, Jennifer Corbett Carney and husband Todd and Jody Corbett; great-grandchildren,  Micheal Carney,  Judah and Mack Bailey.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Carlisle Funeral Home and other times at the home, 7477 NC Hwy 33 NW, Tarboro (Leggett).
