MARTHA COBB MACIOR

FOR THE DAILY SOUTHERNER

WILMINGTON — WILMINGTON — Martha Cobb Macior, 61, of Wilmington, and formerly of Pinetops, passed away peacefully after a brief illness Saturday, March 23, 2013, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Martha was born Dec. 31, 1951 in Rocky Mount, daughter of the late Willis Edwin Cobb, Jr. and Ruth Granger Phillips Cobb, both of Pinetops.

Martha was a lifelong North Carolinian, a true Southern lady, and steel Magnolia. Martha spent her childhood years in Pinetops and attended Queens College in Charlotte.  She moved to Raleigh upon graduating from college where she met her husband of 30 years, Ken. They have spent the last decade and a half in Wilmington. In addition to raising her son, Tim, Martha was a loving stepmother to three and beloved Mimi to her five grandchildren. Words cannot begin to express the deep loss felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family, friends and life were Martha’s passion and joy. She loved to entertain and cook. She frequently hosted beautiful parties at her home. Her grandchildren loved going to Mimi’s and Poppa’s. She never missed a beat when it came time for her grandchildren’s birthday parties, dance and music recitals and soccer games. For her family, Christmas wasn’t Christmas until you had Martha’s Christmas dinner. Her birthday was New Year’s Eve, so the whole world celebrated her birthday. Oh, did she love to travel and did so extensively across the globe. Martha was also a successful businesswoman, having had several business ventures ranging from retail, to wholesale and lastly as an account representative.
