PINETOPS — PINETOPS — If you were to die this very day, where would you go?

On Saturday, January 4, 2014, Sarah Frances Wooten, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend, finished her race here on earth and knew exactly where she was going. She knew that an eternity of immeasurable love and joy awaited her when she was welcomed Home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She knew there would be no more pain, sickness, sadness or sorrow ever again. She knew she would be made new and whole, in a way unimaginable by mortal minds. And because she loved her Lord and all those around her, she wanted everyone to know what she knew.

Born March 9, 1941 in Lexington County, S.C., Frances was the youngest of three daughters of George Noah and Ruby Shealy Wise. She was the seamstress everyone knew could work magic with a needle and thread. Her resume’ of sewing projects ranged from the very simple to complicated patterns and wedding gowns.  If she made a stitch in your clothes, she left a stitch in your heart.

While known for her ease in frequent conversation, she also possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now, are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Hugh Millard Wooten, and brother-in-law, Samuel Steele. She leaves her devoted son, Hugh Brent Wooten and wife, Tammy; grandsons, Jordan Matthew Wooten, Jameson Webb Wooten, and Jackson Wise Wooten, all of Pinetops.

Her loving sisters are Mary Steele and Louise Willyerd and husband, Chuck, all of West Columbia, S.C., and brother-in-law, William Floyd Wooten and wife, Ann of Macclesfield. She was also adored by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. To her own personal angel, Lucille Farmer: your love and companionship meant the world to Frances, and to her family; you truly enriched her life.

A service to celebrate her life and honor God will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Pinetops Baptist Church. Friends are invited to visit the family immediately afterwards in the fellowship hall. Come and find out more about what Frances knew.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial contributions may be made to: Vidant Health Medical Center, Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice, C/O VHMC Foundation, P.O. Box 8489, Greenville, N.C. 27835.
