Tarboro police received a call around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night about a disturbance on Oakland Avenue and Bradley Avenue. When officers arrived they found a crowd in the street.
Once officers demanded the crowd to disperse, that is when approximately 15 shots were fired up in the air. No one in the crowd was hit.
Officers arrested, 18-year old Rameik Dasean Anderson, of 370 Melissa Dr., Rocky Mount and charged him with going armed to the terror of the public, resisting a public officer, discharging a firearm in the city limits and communicating threats to an officer. He was placed in the Edgecombe County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond. He was released less than an hour later after posting bond.
Officers cited 36-year old Monquency Lamonte Basemore, of 708 E. Saint John St., Tarboro, for carrying a concealed weapon.
Law enforcement is very familiar with Anderson. He has 28 charges pending against him in Edgecombe County and a felony accessory after the fact in Wilson County.
According to the NC Court System website, Anderson has four felony charges pending against him, two driving while impaired, two driving after consuming alcohol under the age of 21, two communicating threats, four resisting a public officer, two felony possession of stolen goods or property, two reckless driving to endanger, two driving while license revoked, felony hit and run serious injury or death and many more misdemeanors.
