A former Tarboro High School student athlete was shot early Sunday morning in Greenville.
Jeremy Bellamy confirmed that he was shot in the arm around 2 a.m. Bellamy was treated and released from the hospital Sunday.
According to Bellamy, he and his brother were leaving the Skyy Bar club when he heard gunshots in the parking lot. When the suspect began shooting, Bellamy said he and his brother ducked for cover.
"The next thing I know, I saw blood," Bellamy said. "I wasn't hurting. I said, 'Oh snap. I've been hit." My brother said to stop playing man. It didn't hurt at that time.
According to reports on the WITN website, Shaquille Streeter of Greenville was arrested for the shooting. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. He was placed in Pitt County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond.
Bellamy said he didn't know the suspect and he didn't remember seeing him in the club.
Bellamy, a 2009 graduate, was a star athlete in basketball, baseball and football for the Tarboro Vikings.
