After a two-month, multiple agency drug investigation, law enforcement officials arrested 23-year old Joshua Michael Edmondson of Pitt County and charged him with three felonies. He is being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $2 million secured bond.
Authorities in Pitt County put together a joint investigation with the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office Drug Task Force. During the investigation, law enforcement seized over 400 grams of cocaine.
Edmondson was arrested on Highway 43 near the Edgecombe County line in Falkland and charged with multiple counts of trafficking cocaine, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. During the arrest, Edmondson was in possession of the firearm and 380 grams of cocaine.
The firearm, a 9mm FNP-9, had been reported stolen from Edgecombe County.
Edmondson was convicted of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in June 2010 and received probation. He has also been convicted on two counts of drug charges, three counts of breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods and larceny. He was released from prison in June 2011 after serving four months for possessing stolen goods. He has spent over a year in prison since 2006, when he was convicted of his first charge at age 17.
