Tip results in three arrests, 17 charges

TARBORO — Information given to local law enforcement officers Wednesday about a vehicle allegedly carrying drugs proved to be true.

According to a Tarboro Police Department press release, members of the TPD, Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Department, and N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement acted on the lead and stopped a black sport utility vehicle in Tarboro that was driven by Matthew Emmette Cousins, 22, of 391 SIlvertown Rd., Enfield. His passengers were Jeffery Doran Mills, 25, 226 S. Circle Drive, Rocky Mount and Reynado Figueroa 48, 1130 Elm St., Reading, Pa.

According to the release, the search of the three men and the vehicle revealed marijuana, cocaine, prescription medication, currency, and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Cousins was charged with two counts trafficking opium or heroin, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver schedule III controlled substance, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver schedule IV controlled substance, maintain place to sell/deliver controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of schedule III controlled substance, possession of schedule IV controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in Edgecombe County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.

Figueroa was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine, manufacture schedule IV controlled substance and felony possession of cocaine. He was placed in Edgecombe County Detention Center under a $20,000 unsecured bond.

Mills was charged with felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in Edgecombe County Detention Center under a   $2,000 unsecured bond.
