Umphlett honored as Vidant champion of quarter

TARBORO — Vidant Edgecombe Hospital recently honored Kimberly Umphlett of the Cardiopulmonary Department as Champion of the Quarter. As an RCP, Respiratory Care Practitioner, Kim is a great patient advocate, going out of her way to make patients and families feel comfortable with their care.

During a reception in her honor, Umphlett was given a gift certificate, lunch for her department, and a framed certificate. “Words cannot describe how appreciative I am,” said Champion of the Quarter Kim Umphlett during the reception. “This hospital has been great to me, and I am proud to work on the Cardiopulmonary team at Vidant Edgecombe.”

“Kimberly does an exceptional job with her patients and visitors,” said Kristin Lamm, Cardiopulmonary Clinical Coordinator and colleague of Umphlett. “She takes her time and is very thorough in her care for patients. She is a wonderful team player and is very supportive in our team growth. Kimberly is a very positive person, which influences others to have a positive attitude as well.”

Umphlett has been employed at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital since 2009.

“Kimberly ensures that each patient’s needs are met,” said George Young, Manager of the Cardiopulmonary Department. “She is well respected by all staff, and is willing to go that extra mile to support our department and the entire hospital.”

Vidant Edgecombe Hospital names a ‘Champion’ each quarter of the year, and nominations are submitted by employees of the hospital.
