A 20-year-old Rocky Mount man was charged Thursday with six felonies and a misdemeanor after a search yielded a large amount of drugs.
According to a press release issued by the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office, narcotics officers from the sheriff's office, Tarboro and Rocky Mount police departments executed a search warrant at 2348 Meadowbrook Road. As they entered the residence, the intended target, 20-year-old Taquan Dominique Lawrence ran out of the back door. After a brief foot chase, law enforcement apprehended him and searched the suspect.
The press release stated, during the search, law enforcement found 381 bags of heroin (38 grams), 25 grams of marijuana, assorted drug paraphernalia and two pistols.
Lawrence was charged with two counts of trafficking heroin, possession with the intent to sell and deliver heroin, possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana, manufacture marijuana, maintaining a dwelling to store controlled substances and resist obstruct delay a public officer.
He was placed in the Edgecombe County Detention Center under a $255,000 secured bond.
