17-year-old charged with 15 felonies

TARBORO — A Rocky Mount teenager, 17-year-old Anthony Tyler Joyner, was arrested Dec. 21 and faces 18 charges after he allegedly broke into 12 vehicles in the West Edgecombe area and stole various items, according to press release issued by the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office received numerous reports from victims that their vehicles had been broken into and that various items, such as GPS units, loose change and other small items were stolen from them.

There was also a RV that had been reported broken into and two televisions were allegedly stolen.

As the investigation started, deputies received information from the Rocky Mount Police Department concerning Joyner, whom they had charged early in the morning of Dec. 21.

According to a press release, deputies working the case in the West Edgecombe area located the vehicle Joyner was operating and searched it, finding numerous items that had been reported as stolen in the West Edgecombe thefts.

Deputies charged Joyner with 12 counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, two counts of breaking and entering, felony larceny, six counts of misdemeanor larceny and injury to personal property. He was placed in the Edgecombe County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.

There is a juvenile with charges pending in the case as well, according to the press release.

Joyner is due in court Jan. 8 for the break-in charges. He also has a court date in  Edgecombe County pending for larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana and possessing stolen goods. He has two counts of contributing to delinquency of a juvenile pending in Nash County as well.
