Tarboro fire officials continue to investigate a late night Wednesday fire at Hadi’s convenience store and gas station.
Firefighters responded to the call at 11:30 Wednesday night and discovered the fire, which was confined to a back room in the building Crews remained on the scene about an hour.
On Thursday, the store was closed and smoke damage was visible from vents in the soffit located on the front of the building. Windows were either clouded over with smoke or boarded up with plywood.
The area immediately in front of the building and around the gas pumps was cordoned off with yellow tape.
According to Edgecombe County records, the building is owned by Maha O. Hadi, who lives on Nobles Mill Pond Road.
