Bridge Week at the Early College

FOR THE DAILY SOUTHERNER

TARBORO — EECHS held its annual Freshman Transition Summer Academy also known as “Bridge Week” by students, parents and staff. FTSA is a four day program held annually in July. The program is part of the early college model in which staff and students come together for team building and educational lessons designed to acclimate the new student to his or her new school and college campus. Students participate in math, English, science and college readiness classes as well as team building activities and service learning projects. This year the service learning project was a campus clean up after a storm blew debris around the campus the night before. In order to ensure that each student had the opportunity to eat lunch each day the school created Lunch 4 Today. Lunch 4 Today is a program that local businesses support by donating lunch for the students during the week. Sponsors for this year were On The Square, Pizza Inn, Jersey Mike's and McDonalds. The faculty, staff and students of EECHS would like to thank you for your generous support and hope that you will be able to return next year as a Lunch 4 Today sponsor! Past sponsors have been Piedmont Natural Gas, Walmart Stores, Abrams and EECHS PTSO.
