First annual Princess of Edgecombe County court successful

TARBORO — The newly formed Princess of Edgecome County is an official preliminary to the Princess of North Carolina State Scholarship Pageant. Princess of North Carolina (PONC) is a  program for girls interested in building self-confidence and character. It is a statewide program dedicated to the personal growth of young ladies and prides its self on being the "Best of the Best."

The pageant was held April 13 in the McIntyre Auditorium on Edgecombe Community College campus. In attendance were state directors Steve and Susan Mintz and State Queens Teen Miss Meagan Ottinger, Young Miss Anna-Claire Musick, and Junior Miss Meagan Eaker. Musick, a Macclesfield native, was mistress of ceremonies. At the state pageant in July, she received Overall Talent and Interview awards.

The Princess of Edgecombe County court is looking forward to participating in community events, service programs and bringing awareness to the Princess State service platform, Victory Junction Gang Camps. The Victory Junction Gang Camp was founded by the Richard Petty family and is located in Randleman.

The campus offers a safe environment for children with chronic illnesses to attend camp. The camp is funded 100 percent by private donations of both time and money. The campus offers almost everything imaginable: Stable, zip-line, fishing pond, bowling alley, movie theater, craft building, two gyms, video simulator of Nascar driving and more.

PONC will have a team (“Princess Power”....Crowns for a Cure) participating in Relay for Life event in May. There booth will offer princess treatment.
