Police need citizens help to solve store break-in

TARBORO — Tarboro police detectives need the community's help to solve a break-in that occurred Sunday at Brown's Grocery on Bradley Avenue.

According to police spokesman Sgt. Al Braxton, the three unknown suspects pushed in a window unit to gain access to the building.

When officers arrived on the scene after receiving the call, the suspects had already fled the scene.

Braxton said the suspects stole a pistol, 69 cartons of Newport cigarettes and an undetermined amount of cash.

According to reports, the three suspects had on dark clothing and their faces were covered.

The store owner is offering a $100 reward to go along with the police's reward for information leading to the arrests of the suspects.

Police want anyone with information about the break-in to contact detectives. All information about the case will be kept strictly confidential.

Police are also trying to find out who is responsible for breaking into at least two homes in the East Tarboro community in the last month.
