Princeville man charged with four felonies

TARBORO — The Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Task Force hit the jackpot Friday  with the help of K-9 Beertje, when they found a half-ounce of crack cocaine inside a Tolbert Place residence in Princeville and also removed a pistol from the streets.

According to a press release issued by the sheriff's office, they had received numerous complaints from citizens about 40-year-old Jimmy Markeith Harper allegedly selling drugs out of his 397 Tolbert Place home.

As detectives began searching Harper's residence, they found 14 grams (half-ounce) of crack cocaine. They also found assorted drug paraphernalia used in the sale and processing of the drugs. Officers also uncovered a Smith and Wesson semi-automatic 9mm pistol.

"I would like to thank the citizens whose concerns for their safety in the community which prompted this investigation," Sheriff James Knight said. "Citizens who have complaints about criminal activity should continue to call the sheriff's office so we can investigate them."
