Two men were arrested in Pinetops Sunday night in connection with a pair of shootings that occurred just after 9 p.m.
Pinetops Police arrested 19-year old Quandre Levon Pittman and 20-year old Leroy Jenkins, Jr., charging them in connection with the second incident, in which a house on Martin Luther King Drive was peppered with gunfire.
Pittman was charged with discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling or moving vehicle which is a felony, injury to real property and carrying a concealed weapon, which are both misdemeanors. Jenkins was charged with felony discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling or moving vehicle and injury to real property. Pittman and Jenkins were both placed in the Edgecombe County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond. Both suspects were still incarcerated at press time Tuesday night.
The first incident — which neither Pittman nor Jenkins has been charged in connection — occurred when a residence off Highway 43 and 111 was blistered with gunfire. After law enforcement had responded to the scene, they received another call just 10 minutes later in reference to the shooting on MLK.
Pinetops Det. Sgt. Stacy Harrell said the investigation is ongoing as police follow up on leads to possibly make more arrests.
