Council to elect mayor pro temp

TARBORO — Members of the Tarboro Town Council will face a brief agenda when they gather at 7 p.m. today in council chambers.

The council will elect a mayor pro temp. Rick Page, who is serving his first term as a councilman, is currently the mayor pro temp.

Page served 2.5 years as the second highest ranking member of the board. Normally the seat is up in two years. Mayor Donald Morris explained that Page served an extra six months due to the redistricting that pushed Tarboro election that was originally set for Nov. 2011 to May 2012.

In other action, a public hearing is scheduled on a text change amendment for conditional use rezonings while a closed session is also scheduled.
