TARBORO — The Tarboro Police Department is asking for help from the community to identify the person or persons responsible for shooting and injuring a 31-year man around 10:30 p.m. Friday night in the 600 block of St. John Street.

The police department received a call concerning multiple gunshots fired in the vicinity of the 600 block of St. John Street and, when officers arrived, they found the male victim, who had been struck twice, lying on a porch. The victim, whose name was not released, was hit in the left arm and leg once each and was transported to Vidant Edgecombe Hospital and later transferred to Vidant Medical Center. He  has since been released from the hospital.

Police say they have obtained very little information in the case and are hoping someone in the community may be able to provide additional information. Police were able to determine that the suspect is described a black male who possibly left the scene driving a mini-van.

Persons with information about the case they are asked to contact Det. Bruce Edwards at 641-4201 or call the department's non-emergency line at 641-4247.

All information provided will be kept confidential and a cash reward is available if the tip leads to the arrest and conviction of the alleged suspect.

There have been at least 10 shootings in the town this year and police are still working to clear several.
