Miller named assistant principal for Pattillo

TARBORO — Jeremiah Miller has been named assistant principal for W.A. Pattillo School. The announcement took place at the September meeting of  the Edgecombe County Board of Education. His most recent role in Edgecombe County Public Schools (ECPS) was as band teacher at both C.B. Martin and Pattillo Schools.

Miller began his teaching career in 2001 as a graduate teaching assistant at East Carolina University (ECU) while earning his master of music degree. Upon completing his degree in 2003, he became professor in jazz studies in ECU’s music department.

Miller joined ECPS in 2007 as the band director and teacher at Martin and Pattillo. He also served as the professional learning community chair and a school improvement team member. He began his administrative internship at both schools in 2011 and is working on his master of school administration degree online at Western Carolina University.

Miller lives in Farmville. In his spare time he plays saxophone in “The Main Event Band,” performing at festivals, special events and weddings.
