FOR THE DAILY SOUTHERNER
National Healthcare Decisions Day is Tuesday, and The Fountains at The Albemarle at 200 Trade St. in Tarboro will host a free public workshop at 2 p.m. Speakers will include Terri Horton, Social Service Director for The Fountains at The Albemarle and Attorney Mahlon DeLoatch. Attendees will learn how to make their wishes known in writing using advanced directive documents, such as Living Wills and Health Care Powers of Attorney.
Despite recent gains in public awareness of the need for advance care planning, studies indicate that most Americans have not exercised their right to make decisions about their healthcare in the event that they cannot speak for themselves. The 6th Annual National Healthcare Decisions Day is intended to inspire, educate, and empower the public and providers about the importance of advance care planning.
To attend the free presentation, call The Fountains at The Albemarle at 252-823-2799.
