Princeville police capture man wanted for parole violation
Two men were captured by the Princeville Police Department and the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Department on Saturday night.
Demetrius Darrell Whitehead, 26, of Rocky Mount, was charged with driving with a revoked license, driving while impaired and resisting arrest.
Whitehead was wanted by the state Department of Correction for warrants relating to a probation violation.
Whitehead was caught around 11:10 p.m. Saturday after being spotted by Princeville Police Chief Gary Foxx in a red 2005 Suzuki with an open container he suspected to be alcohol.
"When I attempted to stop him, he ran a stop sign from Otis to Neville Street," Foxx said.
Foxx said that Jazz Montana Daniels, 21, of Rocky Mount was in the car with Whitehead with an open container, as well.
The car made a turn into the Neville Street Apartment Complex and both Whitehead and Daniels jumped out of the car and ran.
Foxx along with the assistance of the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Department chased the two men down on foot with a K-9.
Daniels was charged with riding in the car with an open container and resisting arrest.
"Without the help of Edgecombe County's assistance, I would have never caught them. They did an excellent job," Foxx said.
