Greenville pair held on fraud charges

T. J. ROYAL
Staff Writer

Two Greenville men have been charged with felonies in connection with a fraudulent vehicle purchase from a Tarboro car dealership.

Detective Sgt. Marty Barber said Thursday that Marvis Jermond Bond, 24, was charged with one count of obtaining property by false pretenses, one count of larceny of a motor vehicle and one count of financial credit card fraud.

Kevin Donnell Ford, 21, was charged with two counts of aiding and abetting in connection with the incident.

On July 9, Barber said Bond purchased a 2003 Chevy Impala for $8,300 from Norris Auto Sales & Service with a credit card. A week later, Barber said it turned out that the transaction was no good.

Barber said both were arrested July 29, but Ford was not served with a warrant until July 30 because of bond issues in Pitt County.

Bond is being held in the Edgecombe County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond. Ford is being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $2 million bond. Ford also has a $10,000 secured bond in Edgecombe County.
