Decision may come Friday on S.C. superintendent job

Though no decision about its superintendent vacancy was made at the Richland One School Board meeting Tuesday night, a called meeting on the matter will be held Friday at 8:30 a.m. in Columbia, S.C.

Dr. Carig Witherspoon, superintendent of Edgecombe County Public Schools, is a one of three finalists for the superintendent's job.

"There was no agenda item related to the search" at Tuesday night’s meeting, said Karen York, Richland One director of communications.

Friday's meeting states "Personnel Matter: Superintendent Search" three times in its agenda, twice for public sessions and one time for an executive session.

York said she did not know if anything official relating to the superintendent search would be announced Friday.
