ECC Golf Tournament Raises Over $22,000

TARBORO — The Edgecombe Community College Foundation’s 28th Annual Golf Tournament raised more than $22,000 for student scholarships. The tournament was held in September at Maccripine Country Club. Thirty-nine teams played in the tournament, which is the largest fundraiser for the college.

First-place winner of the first flight was PNC, with team members Andy Chunn, Brent Brouse, Kent Williams, and Scott Mitchell.

First flight/second-place winner was Carlisle Funeral Home, with team members Jack Reitzel, Mike Long, Mike Clark, and I.V. Thompson.

First-place winner of the second flight was Piedmont Natural Gas #2, with team members John Hughes, David Kennedy, Dale Neaville, and Lee Williams.

Second flight/second-place winner was McDonald’s, with team members Andy Rawls, Kenny Baker, and Ted Brinn.

Closest to the pin winners were McDonald’s and Mayo Knitting Mill.

Corporate sponsor of the golf tournament was Keihin Carolina System Technology, which provided a 2012 Honda CRV as a hole-in-one prize.

Platinum sponsor was Cummins Rocky Mount Engine Plant.

Gold sponsors were ABB and Wells Fargo.

Silver sponsors were Barnhill Contracting; DeLoatch & Hinton, PLLC; Edgecombe Garage Doors/Hartcom Power Division; Edgecombe-Martin County EMC; Hillshire Brands; Sundrop Bottling Company; and Twin County Motorsports.

Lee Edmondson served as golf committee chairman.
