A spaghetti dinner and silent auction from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Calvary Episcopal Church Memorial Hall will raise money for a local animal welfare organization – Tarboro Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) and Feline Friends.
“We rescue cats and kittens from the Tarboro shelter and then we put them into foster care and we get them adopted eventually,” said Marc Ruffing of Tarboro TNR and Feline Friends. “If we weren’t doing it, there would be a lot of cats that would have to be put down.”
The spaghetti dinner and a fall raffle at On the Square restaurant have been the two major fundraisers for the animal welfare organization in the past. The cost of Friday’s dinner is $8 per plate and includes spaghetti, salad, bread and dessert. The dinner is eat-in or take-out.
Gift cards to local businesses and items for pets will be among the silent auction items. Attendees will also have a chance to enter a raffle for a three-night stay at Wild Dunes on Isle of Palms, S.C. Only 100 tickets will be sold. Tickets to the spaghetti dinner will be sold in advance and at the door. For advance tickets, call 903-0064 or 458-5338.
Tarboro TNR and Feline Friends has adopted 168 cats and kittens in 2013 and 153 in 2012.
