Fire up the grill and let’s cook burgers
One of the great things about summer is my charcoal grill. Of course, at my house, we grill all year long. But, like most people, we do it more in the summer than the winter. If we are cooking on the grill, an American staple is the burger. But, having a burger doesn’t have to mean just a plain beef burger. This week we are looking at a couple of different options.
The first is mini burgers. These are great for snacks or even appetizers, but if you are really hungry, you will want to make these bigger. For the mini’s use regular dinner rolls. Plan 3-4 for each person, if it’s a meal.
The second recipe is a favorite at our house. I love mushrooms on a burger. I also add grilled onions. If you top your burger with those and then make your own aioli, you will have a true backyard feast.
The third recipe will delight guests at any cook out. It’s chicken cordon bleu burgers. They take a little more prep time but are well worth the effort that you will go to.
The fourth recipe is a turkey patty melt with grilled onions. This is a healthy but tasty low fat burger. Of course, you can substitute with ground chicken, ground beef or even a combination of each.
